CompareBest trading journal for prop firm traders
A funded trader does not fail on win rate. They fail on a daily loss limit hit at 9:47, a trailing floor that moved up overnight, or a trade opened 90 seconds before a red news event. So this ranking weights what keeps accounts alive: rule tracking, drawdown types, news windows, payout timing, AI, price and markets. Facts were checked on each product's own site in October 2026. Proof is ours; we have been as hard on it as on the others.

How we ranked
Seven criteria, in order of how often they end a funded account:
- Rule tracking per account. Does the journal know the firm's daily loss type, max loss, consistency rule and minimum days, or do you re-enter them as notes?
- Trailing drawdown. Does it track the variants (high-water, equity, end-of-day, locking), or only a flat number?
- News windows. Does it know which events your firm restricts and block the window, per firm?
- Payout projection. Does it tell you the date you become eligible, from the firm's schedule?
- AI. Is a coach included in the base plan, and does it read your own journal and rules?
- Price. What you pay for the features above, for several accounts.
- Markets. Forex, futures, stocks, options, crypto, and sized in the right units.
1. Proof
Proof takes first on four of the seven criteria and loses clearly on two, so read the whole entry.
Where it wins. Every rule is tracked per account: daily loss on a balance, equity or end-of-day basis; max loss and trailing drawdown in all four variants; open-risk caps; consistency; minimum profit days; payout schedules. Presets for FXIFY, FundingPips, FundedNext, Goat Funded, FTMO, The5ers, Topstep and Apex plus custom. It is the only journal here that applies news block windows per firm today. Target projects the payout date per account. Rule Cost puts a dollar figure on each broken rule. Vera, the AI coach, is included in every plan with 500 credits a month. A daily routine with streaks, mindset check-ins, missed setups scored against real candles and a weekly recap are built in. Every market is sized in its own units.
Where it loses. No broker auto-sync: trades come by CSV from MT4, MT5 and other platforms or by manual entry. Eight firm presets is fewer than TradesViz's 37+. No simulator, replay or backtesting. No iOS app. And it is launching, so it has none of the years of history or community size that TradeZella and TradesViz have.
Price. $49 a month, $399 a year or $499 lifetime at special pricing; regular pricing later is $59, $499 and $999. 7-day refund. One plan, all accounts.
Best for: a trader running two or more funded accounts across firms, on forex, gold, indices or futures, whose main risk is a rule.
2. TradesViz
The strongest competitor on this list for funded traders, and the one a budget-first trader should probably pick.
Where it wins. Firm profiles with four drawdown types (trailing end-of-day, trailing intraday, static, trailing-to-static lock), a daily loss tracker, a consistency score that states the dollars needed to get compliant, and a payout readiness indicator. 37+ firms and 60+ configurations, plus custom profiles. Challenge Mode runs an evaluation inside the simulator with auto-stop. 70+ broker auto-sync connections (Tradovate, Rithmic, NinjaTrader, MT4 and MT5 among them). AI Coach, AI Query and AI Chat on paid plans. An iOS and Android app. Pro is $19.99 a month or $14.99 billed yearly; Platinum is $29.99 or $22.49. Its blog goes back to 2020, so the track record is real.
Where it loses. News windows are stored in profiles but enforcement "is coming" as of the June 2026 post. Payout readiness shows buffer, not a projected date. No rule cost in dollars. Checklists, but no routine with streaks. The free plan is stocks only.
Best for: a futures trader on a Tradovate or Rithmic prop account who wants auto-sync, Challenge Mode and the lowest paid price. Full comparison: TradesViz alternative.
3. TradeZella
Where it wins. The largest ecosystem: 500+ broker and prop firm integrations with auto-sync, 100,000+ traders, a community (Spaces) with mentors and leaderboards, Zella University, backtesting with tick data, replay, and Zella AI with agents for habits, risk and sentiment. Prop Firm Sync tracks profit targets, daily drawdown and consistency across firms with pass-rate forecasting; FTMO, Apex and Topstep are named plus 12 more.
Where it loses. Trailing drawdown variants, news windows and payout date projection are not described on its pages. Essential ($35 a month, $26 billed yearly) covers one account; multi-account starts at Pro ($59, or $44 billed yearly). Web-only by its own statement. CSV export covers selected trades only.
Best for: a trader who wants one platform for journal, backtesting, community and education, and whose firm's rules are simple. Full comparison: TradeZella alternative.
4. Edgewonk
Where it wins. Discipline. The Tiltmeter measures rule breaks, the mental journal tracks mindset, checklists per setup and routine tracking are native, and the Edge Finder scans the journal every Sunday. Missed trades tracking and session report cards are included. One plan at $197 for 12 months covers unlimited accounts, including prop firm accounts, across forex, stocks, futures, crypto, indices, commodities and options. 14-day money-back.
Where it loses. Prop firm accounts are supported, but firm presets, drawdown types, consistency rules and payouts are not described. No news calendar, no AI, no auto-sync stated, no mobile app mentioned, annual billing only. The Excel export is limited to a few columns.
Best for: a trader whose losses come from tilt rather than from a rulebook, who wants one annual payment. Full comparison: Edgewonk alternative.
5. TraderSync
Where it wins. 700+ brokers with auto-sync on every plan, the largest published count here. iOS and Android apps on all plans. Market replay at up to 250-millisecond precision. Strong post-trade reports (rolling exit, MFE and MAE, what-if). Cypher AI on every plan. 7-day free trial. Clean CSV export.
Where it loses. Nothing on its pricing or feature pages about prop firms, drawdown, consistency, news or payouts. AI is capped at 5, 15 or 60 messages a day by tier and the proactive coach is Elite only. Pro covers 5 accounts. October 2026 pricing showed $22.46, $37.46 and $59.96 a month discounted; list is $29.95, $49.95 and $79.95.
Best for: a trader on a synced broker who journals from a phone and does not need firm rules tracked. Full comparison: TraderSync alternative.
6. Tradervue
Where it wins. Reports: 100+ on Silver, 300+ on Gold, with exit analysis, liquidity and commissions. A genuinely free plan (30 trades a month). Broker import on all plans and sync on paid plans. Mentoring access. One-click CSV export on paid plans. Simple pricing: $0, $29 and $49 a month.
Where it loses. No prop firm features, no news calendar, no AI, no routine layer, and markets stop at forex (no crypto or CFDs). The free plan is too small for a day trader.
Best for: a stock or futures trader on a personal account who wants report depth and a low price. Full comparison: Tradervue alternative.
The honest summary
If your broker auto-syncs with TradesViz and you want the lowest price, pick TradesViz. If you want backtesting and a community alongside the journal, pick TradeZella. If your problem is tilt, pick Edgewonk.
If your problem is that three firms have three different daily loss definitions, two trailing floors, a consistency rule and a red-news list, and you want one screen that knows all of it, applies the news windows and tells you the payout date, that is what Proof is for. Check what each firm enforces on the prop firm rules hub before you decide.
Prices and features were read from each product's own site in October 2026 and change. Where a page was inconsistent (TraderSync's account caps, TradesViz's firm count), we have said so.
