Proof / Compare / Best journal for options
CompareBest trading journal for options traders
Options break most journals. Multi-leg spreads get logged as four separate trades, assignment and expiry confuse the P&L, and earnings dates are the one calendar that matters and is usually missing. Here is how six journals handle options, checked on their own sites in October 2026. Proof is ours, and for pure options analytics it is not the top pick; we say where it is and is not.

What an options journal has to get right
- Spread handling. Legs grouped into one position, with P&L at the strategy level.
- Expiry and assignment. Closed by expiry or assignment should not look like an open trade forever.
- Greeks and flow. Optional, but if you trade on them, the journal should store them.
- Earnings. Holding short premium through a report you forgot about is the options trader's version of a news-window breach.
The six, in order for an options trader
1. TradesViz
The deepest options toolset here. Platinum ($29.99 a month, or $22.49 billed yearly) adds options flow analysis for all optionable US stocks, ETFs and indices, an options backtester for US and NSE, Greeks analysis, interactive payoff diagrams, an options simulator and an Options Command Center. Stock options and futures options are supported on Pro and up. 70+ auto-sync connections. The free plan is stocks only. Prices change.
2. TraderSync
Stock options and futures options on all plans, with automatic option spread detection and LIFO, FIFO or weighted-average accounting for partials, which solves the multi-leg problem at import. 700+ brokers with auto-sync. The Options Chain and other market tools are Elite only ($79.95 a month list). Nothing on its site about earnings calendars.
3. Tradervue
Options are supported on every plan including the free one (30 trades a month), with 300+ reports on Gold ($49 a month), exit analysis and commission support. A long-standing choice for stock and options traders at US brokers. No AI, no earnings calendar.
4. TradeZella
Options appear in TradeZella's broker integrations and disclaimer, and brokers like tastytrade and TradeZero are supported by file upload. We could not find options-specific analytics (spreads, Greeks) described on its home or pricing pages, so we rank it on general strength: 500+ integrations, backtesting, replay, community, AI. From $35 a month.
5. Proof
Proof supports options and sizes them correctly, and it is the only journal here that lists an earnings calendar for stocks and options traders, filtered to what you trade, alongside its combined news calendar. Rule tracking, Risk Guard, Rule Cost, the daily routine and Vera (500 AI credits a month, included) all apply to an options account the same as any other. What it does not have: Greeks, options flow, a backtester or spread-level analytics. If you trade options inside a funded or rule-bound account, Proof is the fit; if you want options analytics, it is not. $49 a month, $399 a year or $499 lifetime at special pricing, 7-day refund.
6. Edgewonk
Options are in the supported market list, and the discipline tools (Tiltmeter, checklists, Edge Finder) work regardless of instrument. No options-specific analytics, no AI, no earnings calendar. $197 a year.
The short version
For options analytics, TradesViz Platinum. For spread detection at import with a broker you already use, TraderSync. For a free or cheap options journal with deep reports, Tradervue. For options traded inside a prop firm account where the rules and the earnings date matter more than the Greeks, Proof.
One practical check before you commit to any of them: export a month of options trades from your broker as CSV and import it on a trial. Watch what happens to a four-leg iron condor and to a position closed by expiry. If the journal shows one position with one P&L, it handles options. If it shows four trades and an open leg from three weeks ago, it does not, whatever the feature list says. Every journal here except Edgewonk offers a free plan or a free trial, and Proof has a 7-day refund.
If you are in the prop firm group, the prop firm rules hub covers what each firm enforces, and the free Proof Score will show what your rule breaks have cost from a CSV of your trades.
