Consistency Rule Calculator

Consistency rules don’t breach your account. They block your payout, or raise the profit you need to pass, until your best day is a small enough share of the total. Enter your numbers and see where you stand.

Last updated October 19, 2026

Most firms measure the best day against total profit in the payout period or the whole evaluation. Some only count winning days. Check which your firm uses.

How the consistency rule works

The rule says your best day can’t be more than a set share of your total profit. At 15%, a $1,200 day needs $8,000 of total profit before it’s allowed. The idea is to stop one lucky day from carrying a payout.

Most firms don’t fail you for breaking it. On instant-funded accounts it blocks the payout until you’ve added enough profit on other days. On evaluations like Topstep’s, it raises the profit target: your required profit becomes best day ÷ the rule. FTMO’s best-day rule compares your best day with total profit from winning days only.

The math

  • Pass if best day ÷ total profit ≤ rule.
  • Profit needed to pass = best day ÷ rule.
  • Extra profit needed = that number − current total profit.
  • Losses don’t shrink your best day. A big winning day locks in a high bar; the only way out is more profit on other days, with no bigger day.

How to stay inside it

  • Set a daily profit stop at a fixed share of your target, like 10% of the payout you’re aiming for, and stop for the day when you hit it.
  • Keep size steady. The rule punishes one big-size day far more than it punishes small losing days.
  • Before a payout request, run the numbers here. If you’re over, add days, don’t add size.

Frequently asked questions

Does the consistency rule breach my account?

No at nearly every firm. It blocks the payout request or raises the profit you need. Check your firm: a few treat repeated violations as a soft breach.

Is the best day measured against total profit or only winning days?

It varies. FundingPips, Goat Funded and Topstep use total profit. FTMO’s best-day rule uses profit from winning days only. Use the setting your firm publishes.

What if a losing day comes after my best day?

Your total profit drops, so your best day’s share goes up. Losing days make the rule harder to pass, not easier.

How do I fix a consistency violation?

Keep trading with steady size and no day bigger than your current best. The extra profit needed is shown in the calculator.

Which firms have no consistency rule?

Among the firms tracked here, FXIFY Instant Funding (standard), FundedNext Stellar Instant and The5ers High Stakes have no consistency rule as of October 2026. Confirm in your dashboard.
